30th Annual Dental Science Symposium

Join us for the 30th Annual University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio
Dental Science Symposium!!!

The symposium embraces a broad spectrum of research and scholarly activities.
We welcome participants from all UTHSCSA schools.
The highlight of our symposium will be a competitive oral and poster session being presented by predoctoral students, postdoctoral students and UT Health Science Center faculty.
Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts already accepted for presentation as well as original research.

Deadline:

  • All submissions must be submitted electronically no later than 12:00 PM (CT), Friday, March 2, 2012 to DJ Smith, smithdj0@uthscsa.edu
  • Paper submissions or faxed abstracts are not acceptable.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • You will be notified via e-mail that your abstract has been received and accepted.

Registration:

  • Submission Process: Participants should submit the one-page abstract registration form below, which includes the title, author(s), background and purpose of the study, methods, results, and conclusions, as well as the name of the presenter and their type of position or appointment.
  • Presenters may submit only one registration form, but can be co-authors of other presentations.
  • All submissions must include a 300 resolution jpg picture of the presenter to be accepted
  • Posters setup time: 7:15 am in the Holly Auditorium Foyer.
  • All presenters are required to attend both the Speaker sessions and the Awards ceremony.
  • Be prepared to give your presentation numerous times during the morning as people come up.
  • Students from dual-degree (i.e. DDS/PhD), Masters, and PhD programs should register in the post-doctoral category
    • Pre-doctoral Evidence-Based Practice Registration (click here)
      • The format for the program is 10-minute oral presentation on a critically appraised problem (CAP) of your choosing.
      • Flash drives must be submitted to DJ Smith, no later than 12:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2012, to be installed on laptops provided.
    • Post-doctoral Oral Presentation Registration (click here)
      • The format for the program is a 10-minute oral presentation on anything related to dentistry
      • Flash drives must be submitted to DJ Smith, no later than 12:00 pm, Friday, March 30, 2012, to be installed on laptops provided.
    • Pre-doctoral and Post-doctoral Poster Presentation Registration (click here)
      • Poster display area- 5.8 ft (w) x 3.6 ft (h).
      • Pushpins and large clips will be provided to hang your poster.
      • All presenters are required to stay by their poster clinic from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm standing off to the side just a bit so that participants can easily view the poster.
      • Posters are not to be removed till 3:45 pm, any remaining posters after 4:00 pm will be considered UNWANTED and will be discarded.

NOTE: Attendance by the Dental School students is required as part of the Dental School Curriculum. This event is on the Dental School class schedules.

Dress code:  For all attendees and presenters, Business Attire.
